Off Page Optimization Tutorial

Off Page Optimization With the tutorial below, you can learn how to perform the simple, necessary steps of off page optimization from the comforts of home. When used in conjunction with on page optimization, these off page search engine optimization (SEO) techniques will help maximize your site's performance in search engines - increasing the amount of exposure, traffic, and revenue for your niche website. Scroll down to discover more about off page SEO and how it plays a key factor in improving your website's future development and effectiveness online!

What Is Off Page Optimization?

Off page optimization (or off page SEO) is part of the overall search engine optimization (SEO) process. The SEO process includes three stages:

  1. SEO content writing - the initial steps of SEO.
  2. On page optimization - implementing SEO techniques into a website's structure.
  3. Off page optimization - using SEO techniques outside of a website's structure.

Around 80% of your SEO efforts depend on off page optimization. So, in order for the full SEO process to work properly, BOTH on and off the page techniques should be implemented (according to your niche and keywords).

How Does Off Page Optimization Work?

Off Page SEO

The main concept of off page SEO, is to obtain links from higher ranked websites that are relevant to your niche and keywords. In order to work, ON page optimization must compliment your off page efforts in regards to relevance and keyword usage. Why?

  • Search engines like Google determine a website's importance based on authority. Authority is determined by both the contents present on your website, and by the inbound and outbound links of your website.
  • The number of inbound links a site is a better "popularity" cue for Google, because it shows that your site is popular to others. Thus, bettering the chance of achieving a higher PageRank for your niche and keywords.
  • Search engines will crawl higher ranked websites more often, so aim to achieve inbound links from sites with better rankings so that your site can benefit as well.
  • Your website QUALITY (what others think of your site) is a key factor in obtaining inbound links and achieving a higher PageRank. Content-poor sites will have difficulty attracting links, so make sure that you have unique and informative content.

Off Page SEO Techniques

After performing keyword-based, internal linking operations for on page optimization, employ the following off page SEO techniques to increase your site's external links and PageRank. Search engines can tell the difference between relevant and irrelevant links, so make sure your inbound links come from sites with similar keywords and niche subjects!

  • Blog about your niche topic - leading visitors to your website via external links
  • Link campaigns - asking websites (that are correspond with your niche) to provide links
  • Link exchanges - swapping links with another website
    • One way link building
    • Two way link building
    • Three way link building
    • Multi-way linking
  • Market your site on other sites - CraigsList is a well known classifieds site that has a very high page rank. To join, simply choose the category that your site belongs to, and post an advertisement (with a link). It doesn’t matter if no one reads it, what matters is that search engines can find your site in an external location.
  • Social bookmarking - perform (and even offer) this by joining up with sites like Digg, Slashdot and Stumble Upon
  • Post or comment about your website in topic-related forums and blogs
  • PPC campaigns – participate in these campaigns to publish your website links in blogs and websites that may be unreachable otherwise.
  • Press release submissions - include fresh, interesting information related to your site.
  • Public relations - provide PR for your website in both good times and bad
  • RSS feeds - submit information to an RSS feed or publish your own news though RSS syndication. Other websites pick up RSS feeds and publish news stories (which can include a link back to your site, of course).
  • Search engine submissions for popular programs like Google, Yahoo, and MSN
  • Social networking - create your website's personality via Facebook and Twitter - linking back to your site for reference
  • Write articles and submit them to relevant topic sites like Squidoo - linking back to your site for reference

When soliciting links from other sites, use your keywords in the anchor text or around links whenever possible. You may not have much control over 3rd party links to your site, but you can control the anchor text for all links within your site and from any 3rd party links that you can edit.

After performing off page SEO, check out your website’s current link popularity for FREE. The higher your website's link popularity is, the greater your chances are of increasing in PageRank! Also, check your link partners. The more link popularity of a link partner, the more value provided by the links from his/her website.

Why Learn About SEO?

Even if you have great content, your visitor count (and sales) will NEVER be at their highest potential if your website or page is poorly ranked in search engines, because people won't be able to find you! Search engine optimization (SEO) is a form of internet marketing that uses strategies to improve the overall quality of online content, so that search engines can better understand and rank it.

We use three steps in our SEO strategy:

  1. SEO content writing - the initial steps of SEO.
  2. On page optimization - implementing SEO techniques into a website's structure.
  3. Off page optimization - using SEO techniques outside of a website's structure.

Everyone has their own way of performing SEO. However, the common goal of every SEO campaign is to obtain higher natural, organic search engine listings so that it can be more easily found. In this search engine optimization tutorial, we will explain how to perform SEO, however, when it comes down to getting increased traffic and sales, CONTENT is king. In other words, SEO can help but it's up to your visitors to decide what they think about your site and if they will revisit, buy, tell their friends, and so on.

Search Engine Optimization Tutorial

Search Engine Optimization TutorialEven though we will admit that SEO is time consuming, the following search engine optimization tutorial strategies are not difficult to learn and implement. In the end, your success will depend on how much you're willing to learn, and how much time you're willing to commit.

Intro: SEO for Google

Every search engine has a different way of indexing websites and pages. This is why different search engines produce different results for the same exact search. Since Google is the most-used search engine in the world, we will focus on Google SEO (search engine optimization) internet marketing strategies for this tutorial.

  • Want to know where your site ranks in Google? Click here to find out your current Google search engine ranking, and what keywords people are using to find your site (which you can use in the first step).  Jot down your current ranking, and about a month after performing SEO adjustments check to see if your ranking has improved.
  • Except for the engineers of Google, no one knows exactly how Google ranks content. So, it's up to the rest of us to find out by trial and error. What has been proven, is that if you're understood by Google, it makes it easier for your site to be indexed so that you can achieve a higher ranking, increased traffic, and (hopefully) more sales.

SEO is not difficult to do, however, it is time consuming and does require commitment. To make your organic SEO process easier, we've outlined the following Google SEO strategies that have worked to optimize our online businesses.

Step 1: Keyword Research for SEO

The main goal of all keyword research strategies is to get your website ranked for relevant keywords and phrases that people actually use to find the products, services, or information that you are offering. Check out our keyword research tutorial to learn how to find keywords and phrases that are beneficial to your topic, yet also realistic in search and competition.

  • We enjoy using Google AdWords keyword tool for SEO. Many people also use the Overture keyword suggestion tool, but because it only provides "broad" match (that involves singular, plural, and misspelled search terms in one), we've stuck with AdWords because it has an "Exact" search option.
  • Choose 3-5  keyword combinations that are relevant to your topic, have a good amount of search volume (with steady or upward search trends), and are realistic in terms of competition. Then, use your keyword choices throughout your content, so that your site will have a chance to gain higher rankings for these keywords in Google.
  • To find keywords that you are already linking for in search engines, look at your web server. Your server provides a short list of search terms that people have used to find your site. To find an even longer list of search terms, an analytics system such as Google Analytics is a good choice because you can dig deeper into the long-tail keywords and search patterns of your visitors.

Step 2: Google SEO On Page Optimization

On page optimization is an SEO technique that outlines how to use your keywords and phrases within the content and HTML code of your pages. First, you must fill in the "All in One SEO" meta tag fields. Meta tags should include a title, description, and keywords. Here are some common meta tag techniques that you can use in your SEO process:

  • The meta title tag is one of the most important factors in SEO, because when Google indexes your site the meta title is used within your search engine listings, and also at the top of web browsers, to inform visitors about your site. Search engine robots read from left to right, so keywords that come first should be the most important. Title tags should be between 10-60 characters, after this, a search engine will simply ignore the rest.
  • Your meta description tag has importance is SEO as well, because it's also used in search listings. This is a great opportunity to further inform visitors about your site and differentiate yourself from the competition. Use a keyword-rich, yet informative description that is less than 200 characters and made up of clear sentences. Keep in mind that this is a chance to entice others to choose your site over the competition (and hopefully return in the future), so make sure to explain what your page is about and what it has to offer.
  • The meta keywords tag is the least important for Google. However, it still can help in SEO, and is an easy way to keep track of the keywords you are using to make an impact in SEO. When inputting your 3-5 keyword combinations, the most important one should appear to the right, with less important keywords following after (search engine robots read from left to right), and seperated by commas. Every keyword used in the meta keyword tag should appear somewhere in your content, otherwise you could be penalized for irrelevance.

SEO for Google

Next, include your keywords and phrases from the first paragraph throughout the rest of your content. As for length, Google seems to prefer content to be around 250 - 300 words long. For SEO, you should also include important keywords in the majority of your headers and subheaders - with H1 taking the most importance and H6 taking the least in Google. Make sure to provide a keyword-rich description that still describes what your content is about.

It's important to note that Google will analyze how often keywords appear in relation to other words on a page. If a web page has a high-frequency of keywords, it will be deemed more relevant than other pages. However, do NOT repeat your keywords hundreds of times on a page, because this is "spamming" and Google may sandbox your site. As a general word of wisdom, if your content is informative, credible, and the keywords aren't over-powering then spamming should not be a concern.

Step 3: Inbound and Outbound Linking
Search engine optimization includes the above on page SEO techniques as well as many off-page SEO techniques, such as inbound and outbound linking. The Google search engine places a great deal of focus on web page links, and the reputation of those links. It's important to maintain keyword-rich inbound links from relevant sites, as well as related inbound links within your own site.

  • Google looks at the links of a web page (including images) to better determine what your page is about. If you have a good link setup, Google will return the favor by boosting your ranking. Focus on getting value links, not on getting as many links as possible. 10 great links (those that rank high in Google) are better than 25 okay ones.

In order to tell search engines how these links are relevant to your content, use keywords in BOTH your anchor text and links. Instead of using the words "click here" use something like, "Check out our our search engine optimization tutorial," instead. To find out how your links are used in your website, use an analytics program like Google Analytics to track your links and view click-through rates. If you find that certain links attract more visitors, take note because these can improve your ranking. If you see links that have poor click-through, replace them with other links that have a higher Google ranking.

Step 4: Monetize Page Content

Learn SEO Search Engine Optimization for Google

In order to monetize your page content, join up affiliate programs and then use the provided affiliate links, banners, plugins, videos, etc on your site. We enjoy affiliate programs like Amazon, ClickBank, PayPal and eBay. By offering outbound links from trustworthy affiliate program, you can make money from your increased Google traffic and attract even more visitors by expanding your services. Check out this tutorial to find out more on how you can make money online with affiliate programs

Step 5: Other SEO Strategies for Google

Lifespan of Online Content

An important fact to know in Google Search Engine Optimization is the "Sandbox" theory. Google delays the rankings of a NEW website for a few months because it needs time build "trust" with it. When Google decides to trust a website, this process is known as "Getting out of the sandbox" by website owners. In contrast, trusted sites can get removed from search results they have violated any of Google's rules. This is called being "Sandboxed". After being sandboxed, the only way to get out of the sandbox is to remove whatever it is that you are being penalized for and then apply for inclusion.

Credibility of Content

Another factor of SEO is the credibility of a website. By offering credible and interesting content, people will be more apt to visit your site again. Take mainstream media for example. TV networks like FOX and CNN may appear credible and fair, but in all reality each network twists opinions a favors one side over another in political agendas. Online, you can provide visitors with credible resources, such as making purchases available from eBay or using safe payment options via PayPal. Also, the longer a site exists, the more credibility it gains with search engines. Once you have credibility on your side, your site or page will be able to overcome a less credible competitor and rank higher in Google as a result.

SEO-Rich Domain Names for Google

Having a keyword-rich domain name can help in Google search results as well. If you think spaces are needed in your domain name, dashes are better for Google SEO than underscores. To find out more about domain names, check out our Domain Name and Registration Information. The age of your domain also makes a difference in Google rankings (spam sites are not registered for long), so it's a smart idea to extend your domain registration for a couple of years.

YouTube Video & SEO

Video can also help your search engine optimization (SEO) On November 20, 2009, YouTube added an automatic video captioning service to make their visual clips more accessible. This resulted positive impact in SEO, because YouTube videos are more optimized (for search engines) if keywords are used in the captions. Other then YouTube captions, very little text counts toward SEO on the web today, so it's a breakthrough in optimizing online video content.

Wordtracker - Keyword Suggestion and Research Tool

Keyword Research Tutorial

This keyword research tutorial explains what keywords are, why keyword research is important, and how web pages and/or sites can obtain search engine optimization (SEO).

Keyword Research Tool What Is A Keyword?

A keyword is a word that has particular meaning to (the programming of) search engines, such as Google. In other words, it's what you type into Google to get an answer back. Similarly, a group of keywords is known as a keyword phrase.

  • Keywords and phrases are selected based on their search, volume & competitive ability in search engines.
  • Although there's no such thing as the "perfect keyword" or phrase, there ARE keywords and phrases that can help your niche website rank higher in search engines...the rest is up to what people think about your content and if they're willing to buy, return again, bookmark, etc.

Why Keyword Research?

Keyword research is done to find organic (also known as natural or actual) search terms - those that people actually enter into search engines, versus those that have already been researched and are bought by advertisers and corporate companies.

  • The internet is a competitive, growing marketplace so having a set of relevant and successful keywords can help your web page obtain higher search engine results, whereas using poor keywords will rank you lower in search engines.
  • In all, keyword research is about selecting keywords and phrases for SEO (which we will explain below) and increasing your website's return on investment (or ROI).

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Keyword Research

  • Keyword research is performed during Search Engine Optimization (SEO), a marketing strategy that improves website traffic in regards to organic (actual) search engine results.
  • The earlier your site appears in search results, the better your chances are of having visitors, and SEO can make this happen. In other words, SEO helps your website have "presence" in the World Wide Web.
  • Click on the above link to learn about search engine optimization SEO strategies (other than keyword research) that can help you obtain higher search results!

Keyword Research - How To Choose Keywords for SEO

  • Keyword OptimizationSearch engine results are pages that include the exact searched phrase, or links that lead to such pages (read our On-Page Optimization post to learn about other SEO techniques). It's important to know that generic keywords (top searched words), such as food or clothing, are of no value to you because the competition over them makes it unrealistic for you to achieve a high search engine rating.
  • Keywords should be around three to six phrases, and variations of similar phrases, to cover what your page is about and the phrases that you are hoping to rank for.  It is important to ensure a natural flow of copy while still maintaining a proper keyword balance.  In a 300-600 word document, you will want to use around 10 variations of your keywords on the page.
  • Your most important keywords should be listed in the first content of your page and all phrases can (and should) be used and repeated somewhere else in the page content - naturally working in different variations. It's best to focus on words that are relevant but not overused, because when a web page is over packed with keywords (whether in the meta elements or content) it's known as keyword stuffing, and the search engine will label it spam.

Keyword Research Video

This video will walk you through the steps involved in doing successful keyword research. This video is very easy to learn from and will expose you to a very valuable tool to have for internet marketing.

How To Do SEO Keyword Research

Even though SEO keyword research is not an exact science, you can follow a process that will result in more effective decisions, rather then using keywords you may think are used. When researching keywords, you are finding phrases that people actually use, and that ALSO have decent (realistic) search engine ratings.

Follow these guidelines to conduct effective keyword research for your site and find superb keyword research tools:

1. Brainstorm & List Potential Keywords

  • Based on your web site's niche,  make a list of keywords that you think the ideal client would type into search engines when trying to find you.  Having trouble?  Try the Wordtracker FREE Keyword Research Tool.
  • Next, form around 20 keyword phrases out of these words. For example, if your are selling cell phones, some key phrases may be the following: cell phones for sale, new cell phones, new cell phone models, buy a cell phone, best cell phone prices, cheap cell phones, discount cell phones, cellphone shop, buy cellphones online, etc.

2.  Use The Google Keyword Research Tool To Test Phrases

  • Type in around 10 phrases at a time (pressing "Enter" after each to begin a new line), click 'Get keyword Ideas' and then change the match type to the 'Exact' setting.
  • These are Google's search volume results for keyword phrases that relate to yours.  Look for good volume (generally above 2000) and other phrases that make sense for your niche website, jot down all of the phrases you like into a master list.  Also, you can click the 'add' button next to each term you're interested in - they will be added to a list on the right hand side for even further research).
  • Keep repeating searches and compare them to competitors. Think about new keyword phrase combinations and compile a master list of a few hundred phrases (depending on the size of your site).

3. Check Organic Keyword Competition Using Wordtracker Keyword Universe

  • Go to Wordtracker and sign up for a free trial.
  • Still unsure? Read Wordtracker Review before proceeding.
  • Take your master list of key phrases and paste them into the field within Keyword Universe (up to 100 at a time).
  • Select the keywords you would like to use based on their search, volume, and competitive ability. Pick the best, most relevant looking phrases that you believe your prospective clients might employ as well.

Introduction: Why On Page Optimization?

Here are the three steps we use in our overall search engine optimization (SEO) strategy:

  1. SEO content writing - the initial steps of SEO.
  2. On page optimization - implementing SEO techniques into a website's structure.
  3. Off page optimization - using SEO techniques outside of a website's structure.

Improve Search Engine Ranking with Google SEO Techniques

Implementing on page optimization, plus knowing how search engines rank web pages is a vital part of the overall SEO process. Out of all the search engines online, the majority of people (around 75%) choose Google. Google SEO - Improve Search Engine Ranking With On Page and SEO Techniques! Therefore, Google will be primary in our SEO techniques as well. Google is a very complex and changing phenomenon, and exactly how it works will never be made public. However, we can explain the main gist of the search engine and ways you can rank higher in Google...

  • Google uses a meta 'crawler' or 'spider' called Googlebot to scan the internet and find good websites and pages to include in search engine listings. Googlebot only sees text (not pictures or videos - just the text that displays the pictures or video) in the form of source codes, when visiting your page. So, giving Googlebot the correctly formatted source code is needed for Google to determine your keywords and rankings.
  • We use the All-In-One SEO plugin for Wordpress to make this first step of optimization a snap. You simply type the text you want into the appropriate AIOSEO  fields, and the plugin transforms the text into the exact source code Googlebot is looking to index.

If you have all of this in place, login to your Wordpress dashboard and click 'Add New Post' or 'Page'. For this tutorial we will be using Pages, but Posts can be used interchangeably as well.

Step 1: Input All-In-One SEO Fields

The first step in on page optimization is to fill in your Wordpress page's meta tags in the All In One SEO fields based on your keyword research.  This process can also be done in HTML of any platform,  but WordPress makes it a piece of cake with the All In One SEO plugin. To enter your meta tags in the plugin, you must first setup a new 'Page'. Rollover 'Pages' in your Wordpress dashboard and click 'Add New'.  Next, take the Article Title from your work order and put it in the 'Page Title' field. Scroll to the bottom of your 'Page' and locate the All In One SEO Pack. Use your keywords to fill in the meta tag title, description, and keywords (from your work order) into the meta tag fields:

This video shows you how you can add the all in one SEO plugin in order to optimize your website.

Update the AIOSEO fields in this order...

A. "Keywords" field

Keywords are the phrases that we are hoping to rank for in the search engines. The target keywords (most important keywords) should be listed first, and similar keywords next. Use your keyword research to...

  • Choose 1 keyword as your target keyword and add it to the 'Keywords' field.
  • Choose 3 more similar keywords and add them to the 'Keywords' field (comma separated).

The keywords, and importance, need to be figured out first, as the keywords will be the focus for the other AIOSEO fields and any content added to this page.

B. "Title" field

Write a descriptive 'Title' for your page and add it to the 'Title' field. The keywords that make up your page's title carry a significant amount of weight in Google. Find out which pages use a certain keyword phrase in their title tag by typing quotes (" ") around the phrase and searching for it in a search engine. These pages are optimized (designed to produce high volume search results) because their titles include targeted, successful keyword phrases.

  • Use your target keyword as the first words of your 'Title'. Google gives more weight to the words farthest to the left.
  • Use your similar keywords and/or a call to action where appropriate, to finish the 'Title'.
  • Keep the 'Title' to roughly 60 characters.

The 'Title', when viewed on your website, appears at the top of your web browser in the blue 'title bar':

Browser Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Title

The 'Title' also appears as the title of your Google listing (linked to your page):

Google SEO Title

C. "Description" field

Write a descriptive 'Description' for your page and add it to the 'Description' field. This description should both compel the user to act as well as further reinforce the keyword relevance of the page.

  • Use your target keyword in the first sentence of the 'Description'.
  • Work in a few of your similar keywords.
  • Write directly to the reader with a call to action.
  • Explain to the reader exactly what they will find on the page & make sure that the page does indeed contain such information.
  • Keep the 'Description' to roughly 160 characters.

The 'Description' is the description that appears in your Google listing:

Here's an excerpt taken from this web page's source code (note: this page is updated often, so some of the fields may have changed). The 'Title', 'Description' and 'Keywords' fields, when viewed from your website, appear like this:

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for Google

To view this (in Firefox), click 'View', and then click  'Page Source'. This is the source code that your computer reads and displays the output as the website you see and also what Googlebot sees and uses to determine where your page will rank in the Google Search Engine.

If you're not using Wordpress or the AIOSEO plugin, you will need to add these tags manually between the source code 'Head' tags:

  • head tags = <head> </head>
  • AIOSEO Title = <title>YOUR TITLE</title>
  • AIOSEO Description = <meta name="description" content = "YOUR DESCRIPTION" >
  • AIOSEO Keywords = <meta name="keywords" content = "YOUR KEYWORDS" >

If Googlebot does not see these tags, it will use the article title and the first number of characters on the page for your listing.

Step 2: Input Page Content

If you're new to online business and internet marketing, it's best to write your own content. Being able to do online research, finding credible resources and writing informative, keyword laden content is a skill you must learn in order to master online business. Once you've learned and started to make some money, you can then hire professional writers to write your content.  More importantly, if you don't know how to do it yourself, you won't know whether a writer is giving you quality content - and without quality content, you can kiss any decent search engine rankings goodbye.

  • Inputting content is simply the process of writing content or cutting and pasting content you've received from your writer into your website pages.

Google SEO seems to prefer content to be a minimum of 250- 300 words in length.

Step 3: Optimize Page Content

On Page Optimization

Once you finalize the All In One SEO fields and input your content, it's time to optimize the actual content on the page. It's the role of the copywriter to develop the first round of content and work in the targeted and similar keywords. As with any written document, the first draft is rarely the last. Follow these website optimization techniques to further improve search engine rankings for your web pages.

On Page Optimization Tips and Strategies Video

Keyword Usage - Ensure a natural flow of copy while still maintaining proper keyword balance. In a 300-600 word document, use roughly 10 keyword variations on the page and include your target & similar keywords into the following tags:

  • Headings: Use headings that are compelling and informative - these are your article titles and should include your target keywords because they carry high authority with Google.  Wordpress makes this simple with an auto-setup that lets you apply <H1> tags to text.
  • Subheadings: Use keywords in your subheadings as well and apply <h2> and <h3> tags. These carry less authority than headings, but are still important to Google. Capitalize each word, and do not use punctuation.
  • Bold/Italics: Apply bold <b> & italics <em> to keywords throughout the text.  Bold words have more authority over italics, but make sure you don't overdue it.  Underlined text may or may not be important to Google, but either way we like to only underline words that are links.
  • Links: Use keywords as the anchor text for internal links, resource links & affiliate links <a>. Internal links target the same window, and external links target a new window. Each page should contain relevant internal links to pages within your website and to relevant, non-competing external pages outside of your website. Apply no follow tags to affiliate links.
  • Images: Images include logos, banners, pictures, photos, etc. Use keywords in every image <img> name, title, and alt text. Link each image with a URL of your choice.
  • Lists / Bullets - Content with lists <li> allows for easy scanning.

Lead Your Reader - Using tags (headings, sub-headings, bold, italics, links, images and lists) is vital for search engine optimization (SEO), but it's equally as important to think about usage and to not over do it. Readers scan, so keep in mind that you need to set up your content to easily lead readers down the page.

Skimming & Scanning - Make your page easy to skim and scan (which is what a lot of  your readers do), yet still provide the important information that readers need. Lists are encouraged, so feel free to break down the content into lists when possible.

Consistent Voice - The page content and overall site should use a consistent voice throughout. Talk to your readers, not at them. Teach your readers, don't sell them. If you need to change up how the content reads, be sure to maintain the same voice.

Target Market - Know who you are trying to attract to your page, who is actually coming and what they are looking for when they arrive.  Be sure to have what they are looking for, available and ready for them to click.

Features & Benefits - Be sure to list out both the features and benefits of your site. Bullets are great for this kind of information - a list of 4-5 bullets, with the final bullet being a call to action affiliate link, is a great method to use.

Calls to Action - Use textual calls that drive visitors to the point of conversion. At a minimum, I like one "call to action" above the fold and another at the very bottom of a page. One or two more are fine, but try not to over overdue it.

Active Words - Use words that do more than just inform. Try to compel your reader to take action with words like the following: Claim Your Bonus, Act Now, Download Free Software, Start Playing Now, Check This Out, Learn More, We Can't Do This All Day, etc.

Step 4: Monetize Page Contentnot-used-the-money-computer-tree

Once you finalize the first few phases of on page optimization, make sure that the page is fully optimized by using the following monetization methods:

  • Affiliate Links
  • Affiliate Banners
  • phpBay plugin
  • phpZon plugin
  • Google Adwords

Have at least one affiliate link, banner, offer, etc. visible above the fold.

e. Click the continue button. You should now see the "New Tracking Code (ga.js)" which looks like this:

<script type="text/javascript">
var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www.");
document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E"));
</script>
<script type="text/javascript">
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-8941172-2");
pageTracker._trackPageview();

f. Copy this link tracking code and click the "Finish" button. You are now done with Google Analitics and may proceed to step 2.

2. Insert the link tracking code into HTML of Website.

b. Under the "Appearance" tab, click the "Editor" link.

3. Create links to be tracked.

a. In order for link tracking to work successfully, links require a piece of code to be inserted. The code is:

onClick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/go/page-slug-link1.com');

b. To keep track of each link and what position it is on which page, we will employ a structured identification system. In the code, /go/page-slug-link1.com, "page-slug" will be the page in which the link is being placed. For example, if you were to place a link on this page:
http://www.roulletteonline.com/flash-roulette/, "/flash-roulette" would take the place of "/page-slug". "link1.com" is to be replaced by the name of the casino or Website that we are linking to. For example, if we were linking to Bodog Casino we could simply put "bodog1.com". The number "1" in the link means that this is the first link on the page that goes to Bodog. If it were the 2nd link placed on the page to Bodog you would use a number 2, and so on...
c. A properly coded link should look as follows:

<a href="http://www.roulletteonline.com/go/bodog/" target="blank" onClick="javascript: page

How To Search In Google

Google Search Tips & Tricks - How To Search In Google

Google is a search engine that scours the web for pages relevant to a query. Comprised of a keyword or keyword phrase,a query is how you request data from Google (what you type in the search bar).

A basic query is generally satisfactory, but the following tips and tricks can help you learn how to search in Google more successfully and obtain better results!

Google Site Search Tips & Tricks...

Basic Google Search Tips

It's important to remember that a Google site search applies almost all queried words. Each queried word is separately searched unless it is a common word (a, the, for, etc)--which are usually ignored if they not first word in the query. Also, Google is not case sensitive and punctuation - except that of the dollar, underscore and hyphen symbol - is often ignored.

In a basic search, try to keep it simple, yet specific. In as few words as possible, use descriptive search words that you think may appear on the page that you are searching for.

Here are some cool Google Search Tips and Tricks

This video shows you some very helpful tricks and tips that will make your searching efforts much better. Watch and learn now all the cool things you can do with Google searches.

Google Advanced Search Tricks

  • By default, Google Advanced Search considers all queried words, yet often ignores common words.   Have Google pay more attention to a word by attaching a + symbol to the beginning (+how to play poker).
  • Conversely, when a - symbol is placed in front of a word (or even a website)  it is omitted from a search (buy gold - silver).  However, unlike the + symbol, the - symbol needs a space between it and the first letter (or it would be deciphered a hyphen).
  • Rather than searching for each word individually, adding quotations (" ")  tells Google to search for an exact wording or phrase ("The Beatles").
  • Google uses synonyms automatically.  For example, the query [Iowa history] is additionally searched as [ia history].  It is possible to prevent such synonyms in your search by putting  quotes (" ") around a word.
  • By typing OR in all caps (Poker Tournaments 2009 OR 2010), you can further specify the words in a search.  Without this, Google would search for sites that include both words on the same page, because "and" is the default.
  • The * symbol is known as a wild card, and is a way to get Google to fill in the blank for you.  Google uses this opportunity to find the best matches for whole words, not on the parts of the words themselves.  For example [make money by * on the Internet] will return results about types of Internet services that people may be able to make money from.
  • Search within a specific site by entering a web page title in the query.  For example, the query [poker site: kickasspoker.com] will return pages only from kickasspoker.com.
  • Search for a whole class of  sites, such as only within an .edu domain site (college attendance: .edu).  Or you can search web pages that are related in content by typing " related" before a website address (related: www.google.com).
