SEO Content Writing Tutorial
With our SEO Content Writing tutorial below, you will learn how to perform the initial steps of SEO . When performed correctly, SEO writing can play a vital role in your web site's overall process of search engine optimization (SEO). In return, the search engine rankings, web traffic, and sales of your site can improve as well.
Scroll down to learn about web site SEO content writing, and how it can help your site's search engine rankings, visitor count, and overall sales reach their potential!
What Is SEO Content Writing?
As the initial step in your site's search engine optimization (SEO) process, the purpose of SEO content writing is to optimize the content on your site for search engines, such as Google. These SEO techniques include behind-the-scenes work, competition research, and the tweaking of content itself.
Why perform SEO content writing?
- If you have web site content writing that is keyword-rich, people will be able to find you in search engines. If people were unable to find content based on keyword searches, it would be almost impossible to obtain relevant information.
- If people can find your site in search engines (like Google), then your overall visitor traffic, search engine rankings, and monetary sales can increase as well.
- Without SEO content writing, your overall SEO process won't function properly.

SEO Content Writing Tutorial
Below, are the SEO content writing techniques we use to improve the search engine rankings and visitor count for our own web sites. Please note, SEO content writing is only an initial step in the overall search engine optimization process, so don't forget to implement our other SEO tutorials (at the bottom of the page) when finished!
- Study other sites that are similar to your niche topic. This is your competition, so take note on what techniques and information you'd like to portray to your audience as well.
- Perform keyword research for your niche topic. To find out the keywords and phrases of another site, go to your web browser menu, select Tools, Page Info, and read inside the white box of the pop-up window.
- Create a article work order for your site in a notepad document. An article work order will give you a concrete layout of the "articles on your posts and pages before actually writing content (or hiring a writer to do so). An article work order should outline the structure of your site and include an article title, SEO title, SEO description, and SEO keywords for each post/page on your site.
- Input your article work order information. For our SEO title, description, and keywords, we use the WordPress All-In-One SEO plugin to make the process fast and simple.
- Write the content for your site. Be informative, stay on topic, and integrate your keyword phrases in a meaningful way. Content is very important to visitors, because it's the visitors that buy your product and services, not the search engines. If your content is boring or not factual, then you will not hold the readers attention, and the purpose of your hard work will be lost.

What Is Off Page Optimization?
Off page optimization (or off page SEO) is part of the overall search engine optimization (SEO) process. The SEO process includes three stages:
- SEO content writing - the initial steps of SEO.
- On page optimization - implementing SEO techniques into a website's structure.
- Off page optimization - using SEO techniques outside of a website's structure.
Around 80% of your SEO efforts depend on off page optimization. So, in order for the full SEO process to work properly, BOTH on and off the page techniques should be implemented (according to your niche and keywords).
How Does Off Page Optimization Work?

The main concept of off page SEO, is to obtain links from higher ranked websites that are relevant to your niche and keywords. In order to work, ON page optimization must compliment your off page efforts in regards to relevance and keyword usage. Why?
- Search engines like Google determine a website's importance based on authority. Authority is determined by both the contents present on your website, and by the inbound and outbound links of your website.
- The number of inbound links a site is a better "popularity" cue for Google, because it shows that your site is popular to others. Thus, bettering the chance of achieving a higher PageRank for your niche and keywords.
- Search engines will crawl higher ranked websites more often, so aim to achieve inbound links from sites with better rankings so that your site can benefit as well.
- Your website QUALITY (what others think of your site) is a key factor in obtaining inbound links and achieving a higher PageRank. Content-poor sites will have difficulty attracting links, so make sure that you have unique and informative content.
Off Page SEO Techniques
After performing keyword-based, internal linking operations for on page optimization, employ the following off page SEO techniques to increase your site's external links and PageRank. Search engines can tell the difference between relevant and irrelevant links, so make sure your inbound links come from sites with similar keywords and niche subjects!
- Blog about your niche topic - leading visitors to your website via external links
- Link campaigns - asking websites (that are correspond with your niche) to provide links
- Link exchanges - swapping links with another website
- One way link building
- Two way link building
- Three way link building
- Multi-way linking
- Market your site on other sites - CraigsList is a well known classifieds site that has a very high page rank. To join, simply choose the category that your site belongs to, and post an advertisement (with a link). It doesn’t matter if no one reads it, what matters is that search engines can find your site in an external location.
- Social bookmarking - perform (and even offer) this by joining up with sites like Digg, Slashdot and Stumble Upon
- Post or comment about your website in topic-related forums and blogs
- PPC campaigns – participate in these campaigns to publish your website links in blogs and websites that may be unreachable otherwise.
- Press release submissions - include fresh, interesting information related to your site.
- Public relations - provide PR for your website in both good times and bad
- RSS feeds - submit information to an RSS feed or publish your own news though RSS syndication. Other websites pick up RSS feeds and publish news stories (which can include a link back to your site, of course).
- Search engine submissions for popular programs like Google, Yahoo, and MSN
- Social networking - create your website's personality via Facebook and Twitter - linking back to your site for reference
- Write articles and submit them to relevant topic sites like Squidoo - linking back to your site for reference
When soliciting links from other sites, use your keywords in the anchor text or around links whenever possible. You may not have much control over 3rd party links to your site, but you can control the anchor text for all links within your site and from any 3rd party links that you can edit.
After performing off page SEO, check out your website’s current link popularity for FREE. The higher your website's link popularity is, the greater your chances are of increasing in PageRank! Also, check your link partners. The more link popularity of a link partner, the more value provided by the links from his/her website.

Website Design Ideas and Tips
Here, you will find a list of website design ideas and tips that you can use to make your site a more user-friendly and effective experience for visitors. Website design should make it easy and fast for users to find what they're looking for, diminishing visitor effort and time. Scroll down to find ideas and tips you can use to improve your website's overall design today- helping it achieve the results it deserves!.
User-Friendly Website Design Ideas
When deciding on a website design technique, it's important to understand the demographics of your site's visitors, and design it accordingly.
- Web users don't read, they SCAN (or just glance at) a web page to find what they're looking for. There are large parts of the page they won’t even look at, and if a page doesn't appear interesting or useful to them, then they will leave the site and continue their search process.
- Your website's design must relate to your content. Content is more important than the design which supports it, so make sure your content is up to par before moving onto the following techniques! Also, don’t use a technique just because it exists, use it if it makes sense in your context.
In all, if a a website provides high-quality content and a user-friendly design, it will have a better chance of attracting and keeping visitors. Below, are some website design tips, based on the layout, color, and font usage of an effective website design:
Layout - Web Design Ideas & Tips
The layout of your website makes it easy for viewers to skim the content and find what they're looking for. Here are some simple layout techniques that can improve your website:
- The use of white space, the empty space in a design, is an important factor in any layout. By manipulating white space, you can create relationships between certain elements to make your site easier to scan, or you can use white space to make elements stand out (like the Google homepage uses white space to emphasize its search bar). Check out this article on how to use white space effectively in website design.
- Navigation is one of the most important aspects of a website because it helps your visitors move from one place to another. To prevent users from leaving your site, group your content and add highlighted elements (hyperlinks, anchors, etc) to guide them through the content of the page. People read in a "Z" pattern, so keep this in mind in your page layout.
- Use less than 10 links per page, and make sure each one is optimized for search engine optimization (SEO). Maintain your site's hyperlinks by making sure each one uses keywords to explain what it is linking to, test to see if the link is still active, and check to make sure internal links open in the same window and external links open in a new window.
Color - Web Design Ideas & Tips
In website design, color can help set the mood you'd like your site to portray. A website layout should give refreshing feel to the eyes, however, make sure not to highlight too many elements, because they may get lost in each other’s company.
- Warmer tones like orange, red, and yellow are naturally bright and powerful colors that tend to attract the eye. Use warm colors for "Buy Now" or "Click Here" buttons and other important elements to help them stand out and attract attention. Avoid using warm colors with greens and purples of the same intensity, because this is too strong on the eyes.
- Colder colors like blue, green, and purple offer harmony in a layout, because they calm down warmer colors and add more contrast to your layout. Blue is the most common color of hyperlinks, so it's smart to avoid using blue text unless it is an internal or external link.
- Using warm colors for foreground and cool colors for background enhances the perception of depth. For example, when you put a red button on top of a blue background, the button looks like it is jumping outwards. Vise versa, when a blue graphic is placed on an orange background, the graphic seems to be set more towards the back.
When you're through with color, view your page from 3 feet away. If the text is unreadable, then use a different color combination. Also, test your color combination using lower color depths on your monitor to make sure that contrast is still in occurrence.
Font - Web Design Ideas & Tips
Font is an important element in website design, because your content is why people are visiting your site. If your content is difficult to read, than many will turn away. Use the following font techniques to make your site more user-friendly:
- Make sure the spacing in your font is not too close, or it will be difficult to read.
- Do NOT underline normal text because it will confuse visitors (thinking it's a link). In other words, NEVER underline text that does not carry a link! If you want to emphasis font, do it with italics, bold, or the highlighting tool instead.
Hopefully, you’ve found a few new techniques that will be useful in your website design. As always, using them effectively comes down to
thoughtful implementation and whether it makes sense in your context or not.
4 Day Cash Machine – Email Marketing Case Study #3
This is an overview of our 3rd run-through of the 4 Day Cash Machine email marketing campaign developed by Frank Kern. As in the first two 4 Day Cash Machine case studies, we focused on our Dealer Training site and poker dealer school . - with the offer being a 60% off "holiday special" on our Dealer Training program.
The following is needed to launch the 4 Day Cash Machine email campaign:
- A product or service that can be offered to your consumers. Since this campaign is meant for any product/service at any time, ClickBank is a great place to look if you need to find a product/service to offer your email list. Go off your website's niche...
- An email list. Even a prospect list that is from forever ago will work. What do you have to lose anyway?
- An email marketing software is needed to send the emails,. We use AWeber, because it makes it simple and easy to send out mass email campaigns at anytime. Plus, you can see campaign statistics, including how many opens and click-troughs there were.
Case Study #3 - 4 Day Cash Machine
The customers who had already bought the Dealer Training program were automatically removed from our email list (people who had signed up to learn more about, and potentially purchase the program), so we were excited to have a third try at those interested.
Here's how our third case will went from Wednesday, Dec. 4 - 7, 2009:
- We took a look at successful emails (according to click-throughs, site visits, and purchases) from the last two case studies. As times change, so does email, so we researched popular email campaign techniques and implemented them as well. Check out Email Newsletter Marketing Software and Tips to find out more.
- We offered Dealer Training for $77, which is 60% off the normal selling price of$197.
- Using the email newsletter software AWeber, we wrote four different emails, and sent them to our email list around 1:00 pm.m each day.
- The first email explained our holiday offer on Dealer Training, listed its benefits, and included a call-to-action for subscribers. The three remaining emails then served as reminders - reinstating that the discounted price was about to expire.
Case Study #3 Results
In all, we made 11 sales from our 3rd case study of the 4 Day Cash Machine. That's 11 sales we would not have made otherwise! Here's a closer look at our Case Study #3 results of the "4 Day Cash Machine":
- 1st day: 13% open rate, a 2.9% click-through rate, 2 sales, and a 2/34 conversion rate.
- 2nd day: 10% open rate, 1% click-through rate, 2 sales, and a 2/6 conversion rate.
- 3rd day: 8% open rate, 1% click-through, 2 sales, and a 2/8 conversion rate.
- 4th day: 5% open rate, 1.5% click through, 5 sales, and a 5/17 conversion rate.
To further show you how our 3rd case study of the 4 Day Cash Machine turned out out, here are some statistics from AWeber and ClickBank:

How To Keep Passwords Safe
Here, you will discover how to keep your passwords safe. As you know, passwords are used almost everywhere online, and can access anything from email to a bank account. On the scary side, password hacking has become a very common problem as well. Are you protecting your passwords like you should be? Scroll down to find out how safe your online identity is, and to learn about easy, free, and safe password selection and storage techniques for your online business!
How To Keep Passwords Safe
If someone else obtains your passwords, they can find your private data, destroy your files, and take over your computer - putting both you and your customers in jeopardy. Follow these techniques to help keep your passwords safe!
Techniques you can use to keep passwords safe:
- Make your passwords six to eight characters long. The longer it is, the more difficult it will be to attack the password with a brute-force search.
- Passwords can include upper case (capital letters) and lowercase letters, numbers and symbols. Try to use at least one capital letter and two numbers.Use as many different characters as possible when forming your password.
- Use different passwords for each online account you access.
- Change your passwords regularly, every 90 days or so.
Techniques you should AVOID to keep passwords safe:
- Do NOT use the same password for every account, because if someone cracks it then you will have a serious problem on your hands. This may seem like common sense, but the majority of online users use the same password for more than one site because they are afraid they will forget it otherwise.
- Do NOT use common words, because some hacker programs try every word in the dictionary.
- Do NOT use geographical or biographical names that are listed in standard dictionaries.
- Do NOT use personal information like your name, kid's or pet's names, or birth dates that someone already knows or could easily obtain.
- If you must write down passwords, under NO circumstances should you store them somewhere on your computer or nearby it. Even better use a secure password storage software like KeePass (discussed further below).

How To Choose A Safe Password
Unsafe passwords are like leaving the key to your house outside the front door. This may sound exaggerated, but many people overlook their passwords once the sign up process is over and then fail to realize that they've been hacked until damage has already occurred.
To avoid this problem, we use RandPass to choose a safe password. RandPass provides random, hard-to-crack passwords for FREE. There are a couple of rules that are used: all passwords are 8 characters long, lowercase, and include one non-alpha character in the middle. So, if you're having trouble making up a secure password, RandPass can do the work for you.
- Often, people pick passwords that are too easy because they think they're going to forget them otherwise. One way to create a strong password that's also easy to remember, is to think of a memorable phrase and the use the first letters to spell out a password. If the password requires a number, use 4 for the word "for" and so on. If you have to write down a password to remember it, at least it you can write a phrase and not the password itself.
Free & Safe Password Storage
Your password is the way the computer verifies that someone logging in is really you, so pick something that cannot be guessed by others. The top reasons people gain unauthorized access to a password protected system is because of the following:
- They guessed the password.
- They found it on a piece of paper next to the victim's computer, or stored in the computer itself.
- They used a software program that can guess many common passwords in a short amount of time.
To avoid the above storage problems, we chose KeePass storage software. KeePass is a free, open-source (OSI certified) password manager that can store your passwords securely. It puts your passwords in one secure database, that is then locked with one master key or a key file, so it can be stored on a portable flash drive.
This way, you will only have to remember only one master password to unlock the whole password database - which is securely encrypted with algorithms (currently known as AES and Twofish), and makes it extremely difficult for hackers to get into.
How To Keep Passwords Safe With KeePass

Lorem Ipsum Text
Lorem ipsum text is used online to help portray a display that doesn't involve "real" content. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors use lorem ipsum as their default model text when displaying a layout, so that visitor's eyes are drawn to the design instead of the text. Scroll down to learn more about lorem ipsum, and why it's a great text to use in your online business displays as well.
What Is Lorem Ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is a popular "filler text" (also called placeholder or dummy text) that's used in web publishing and graphic design. A filler text is basically a nonsense text that shows what type will look like on a page layout. Made up of semi-Latin words, lorem ipsum can be used to write logical content. However, its main use is for example purposes only so that people are propelled to focus on the overall layout instead of the content.
The process of using lorem ipsum is known as "greeking," because it's a Greek-based language. Since the 1500s,Lorem Ipsum has been the language of the printing and typesetting industry. However, it's roots date back to 45 BC, as a piece of classical Latin literature from Roman philosopher Marcus Tullius Cicero - making it over 2000 years old! When computers came along, Aldus included lorem ipsum in its PageMaker publishing software, and you now see it wherever designers are at work, including all over the internet.
Below, is an example of lorem ipsum. Click on the image to view a full-sized example layout.
How To Use Lorem Ipsum In Online Business
People tend to focus on the textual content rather than the overall presentation of a document, so publishers use lorem ipsum to direct focus to a typeface or page layout in order and not the meaning of the text. Many variations of lorem ipsum exist, however, it's easy to find online and can simply be copied and pasted into a display document. It can also be written with the Microsoft Word (2007 or later versions) lorem ipsum feature. Check out these 8 useful lorum ipsum and random text generators to try it out for yourself!

Step 1 - Keyword Research for SEO

Step 3 - Inbound and Outbound Linking
Step 4 - Monetize Page Content
Step 5 - Other SEO Strategies for Google
Why Learn About SEO?
Even if you have great content, your visitor count (and sales) will NEVER be at their highest potential if your website or page is poorly ranked in search engines, because people won't be able to find you! Search engine optimization (SEO) is a form of internet marketing that uses strategies to improve the overall quality of online content, so that search engines can better understand and rank it.
We use three steps in our SEO strategy:
- SEO content writing - the initial steps of SEO.
- On page optimization - implementing SEO techniques into a website's structure.
- Off page optimization - using SEO techniques outside of a website's structure.
Everyone has their own way of performing SEO. However, the common goal of every SEO campaign is to obtain higher natural, organic search engine listings so that it can be more easily found. In this search engine optimization tutorial, we will explain how to perform SEO, however, when it comes down to getting increased traffic and sales, CONTENT is king. In other words, SEO can help but it's up to your visitors to decide what they think about your site and if they will revisit, buy, tell their friends, and so on.
Search Engine Optimization Tutorial
Even though we will admit that SEO is time consuming, the following search engine optimization tutorial strategies are not difficult to learn and implement. In the end, your success will depend on how much you're willing to learn, and how much time you're willing to commit.
Intro: SEO for Google
Every search engine has a different way of indexing websites and pages. This is why different search engines produce different results for the same exact search. Since Google is the most-used search engine in the world, we will focus on Google SEO (search engine optimization) internet marketing strategies for this tutorial.
- Want to know where your site ranks in Google? Click here to find out your current Google search engine ranking, and what keywords people are using to find your site (which you can use in the first step). Jot down your current ranking, and about a month after performing SEO adjustments check to see if your ranking has improved.
- Except for the engineers of Google, no one knows exactly how Google ranks content. So, it's up to the rest of us to find out by trial and error. What has been proven, is that if you're understood by Google, it makes it easier for your site to be indexed so that you can achieve a higher ranking, increased traffic, and (hopefully) more sales.
SEO is not difficult to do, however, it is time consuming and does require commitment. To make your organic SEO process easier, we've outlined the following Google SEO strategies that have worked to optimize our online businesses.
Step 1: Keyword Research for SEO
The main goal of all keyword research strategies is to get your website ranked for relevant keywords and phrases that people actually use to find the products, services, or information that you are offering. Check out our keyword research tutorial to learn how to find keywords and phrases that are beneficial to your topic, yet also realistic in search and competition.
- We enjoy using Google AdWords keyword tool for SEO. Many people also use the Overture keyword suggestion tool, but because it only provides "broad" match (that involves singular, plural, and misspelled search terms in one), we've stuck with AdWords because it has an "Exact" search option.
- Choose 3-5 keyword combinations that are relevant to your topic, have a good amount of search volume (with steady or upward search trends), and are realistic in terms of competition. Then, use your keyword choices throughout your content, so that your site will have a chance to gain higher rankings for these keywords in Google.
- To find keywords that you are already linking for in search engines, look at your web server. Your server provides a short list of search terms that people have used to find your site. To find an even longer list of search terms, an analytics system such as Google Analytics is a good choice because you can dig deeper into the long-tail keywords and search patterns of your visitors.
Step 2: Google SEO On Page Optimization
On page optimization is an SEO technique that outlines how to use your keywords and phrases within the content and HTML code of your pages. First, you must fill in the "All in One SEO" meta tag fields. Meta tags should include a title, description, and keywords. Here are some common meta tag techniques that you can use in your SEO process:
- The meta title tag is one of the most important factors in SEO, because when Google indexes your site the meta title is used within your search engine listings, and also at the top of web browsers, to inform visitors about your site. Search engine robots read from left to right, so keywords that come first should be the most important. Title tags should be between 10-60 characters, after this, a search engine will simply ignore the rest.
- Your meta description tag has importance is SEO as well, because it's also used in search listings. This is a great opportunity to further inform visitors about your site and differentiate yourself from the competition. Use a keyword-rich, yet informative description that is less than 200 characters and made up of clear sentences. Keep in mind that this is a chance to entice others to choose your site over the competition (and hopefully return in the future), so make sure to explain what your page is about and what it has to offer.
- The meta keywords tag is the least important for Google. However, it still can help in SEO, and is an easy way to keep track of the keywords you are using to make an impact in SEO. When inputting your 3-5 keyword combinations, the most important one should appear to the right, with less important keywords following after (search engine robots read from left to right), and seperated by commas. Every keyword used in the meta keyword tag should appear somewhere in your content, otherwise you could be penalized for irrelevance.

Next, include your keywords and phrases from the first paragraph throughout the rest of your content. As for length, Google seems to prefer content to be around 250 - 300 words long. For SEO, you should also include important keywords in the majority of your headers and subheaders - with H1 taking the most importance and H6 taking the least in Google. Make sure to provide a keyword-rich description that still describes what your content is about.
It's important to note that Google will analyze how often keywords appear in relation to other words on a page. If a web page has a high-frequency of keywords, it will be deemed more relevant than other pages. However, do NOT repeat your keywords hundreds of times on a page, because this is "spamming" and Google may sandbox your site. As a general word of wisdom, if your content is informative, credible, and the keywords aren't over-powering then spamming should not be a concern.
Step 3: Inbound and Outbound Linking
Search engine optimization includes the above on page SEO techniques as well as many off-page SEO techniques, such as inbound and outbound linking. The Google search engine places a great deal of focus on web page links, and the reputation of those links. It's important to maintain keyword-rich inbound links from relevant sites, as well as related inbound links within your own site.
- Google looks at the links of a web page (including images) to better determine what your page is about. If you have a good link setup, Google will return the favor by boosting your ranking. Focus on getting value links, not on getting as many links as possible. 10 great links (those that rank high in Google) are better than 25 okay ones.
In order to tell search engines how these links are relevant to your content, use keywords in BOTH your anchor text and links. Instead of using the words "click here" use something like, "Check out our our search engine optimization tutorial," instead. To find out how your links are used in your website, use an analytics program like Google Analytics to track your links and view click-through rates. If you find that certain links attract more visitors, take note because these can improve your ranking. If you see links that have poor click-through, replace them with other links that have a higher Google ranking.

In order to monetize your page content, join up affiliate programs and then use the provided affiliate links, banners, plugins, videos, etc on your site. Step 5: Other SEO Strategies for Google
Lifespan of Online Content
An important fact to know in Google Search Engine Optimization is the "Sandbox" theory. Google delays the rankings of a NEW website for a few months because it needs time build "trust" with it. When Google decides to trust a website, this process is known as "Getting out of the sandbox" by website owners. In contrast, trusted sites can get removed from search results they have violated any of Google's rules. This is called being "Sandboxed". After being sandboxed, the only way to get out of the sandbox is to remove whatever it is that you are being penalized for and then apply for inclusion.
Credibility of Content
Another factor of SEO is the credibility of a website. By offering credible and interesting content, people will be more apt to visit your site again. Take mainstream media for example. TV networks like FOX and CNN may appear credible and fair, but in all reality each network twists opinions a favors one side over another in political agendas. Online, you can provide visitors with credible resources, such as making purchases available from eBay or using safe payment options via PayPal. Also, the longer a site exists, the more credibility it gains with search engines. Once you have credibility on your side, your site or page will be able to overcome a less credible competitor and rank higher in Google as a result.
SEO-Rich Domain Names for Google
Having a keyword-rich domain name can help in Google search results as well. If you think spaces are needed in your domain name, dashes are better for Google SEO than underscores. To find out more about domain names, check out our Domain Name and Registration Information. The age of your domain also makes a difference in Google rankings (spam sites are not registered for long), so it's a smart idea to extend your domain registration for a couple of years.
YouTube Video & SEO
Video can also help your search engine optimization (SEO) On November 20, 2009, YouTube added an automatic video captioning service to make their visual clips more accessible. This resulted positive impact in SEO, because YouTube videos are more optimized (for search engines) if keywords are used in the captions. Other then YouTube captions, very little text counts toward SEO on the web today, so it's a breakthrough in optimizing online video content.

What Is Google AdWords?
Google AdWords is an online advertising program that allows anyone (who follows the program's regulations) to create and advertise display ads within Google's search results, and/or on websites that display ads through the "Google AdSense" program. Advertisers in the Google AdWords program take part in pay per click (PPC) advertising. That is, every advertiser bids on the amount they are willing to pay per click for each keyword, and when budget limits are reached, the AdWords program automatically stops displaying ads.
However, it's important to note that you do not have to take part in PPC advertising just to use Google Adword's tools! Check out our favorite, the Adwords Keyword Tool, below!
Google AdWords Keyword Tool
In this review, the main topic of concern is that of the Google AdWords Keyword Tool. Google AdWords is free to join, and there are many tools that you can use for online business without joining a PPC campaign. Our favorite Google AdWords tool is the Keyword Tool, because it is a fast and easy way to obtain keyword search traffic and long-tail keyword phrases that people are ACTUALLY using to find content online.
Google AdWords Keyword Tool & Keyword Research
The AdWords Keyword Tool allows you to perform Google keyword research. Even though Google search engine data is the only information available, it's important to note that Google is the most popular search engine in the world today, so it's a great place to rank online.
To use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool, simply enter a keyword or phrase in the search tool. A list of these terms, along with relevant terms and phrases, should be returned in the results. By having a variety of terms to compare and contrast, the tool makes it easy to broaden your keyword research and find the best long-tail keywords for your website or blog. Even better, the Keyword Tool reports the following Google data:
- The amount of Google searches each keyword received in the previous month. This is reported on both a "local" (within the U.S.) and "global" level.
- The approximate Google search volume trends of each keyword. This is shown in a bar graph, and reports the keyword's fluctuation in traffic over the past 12 months. Search volume numbers are just estimates, so we choose to search in the "Exact" mode to perform a more exact Google search on our keywords and phrases.
- A rough idea of the keyword's competitiveness in Google, which is reported via a shaded bar and serves as a general guide to see how many advertisers are bidding on each keyword.
- If you do participate in a PPC Google AdWords campaign, the estimated average CPC (cost per click) of each keyword is also listed.
The best part about the AdWords Keyword Tool, is the fact that it gives you ideas on keywords so that you can make a more secure decision in your keyword research and (hopefully) rank higher in Google search listings. In general, the more popular a search term is in terms of volume, the more it's sought after in terms of competition.
When choosing keywords, the proper amount of traffic and competition of a term depends on both your niche topic and the size of your website or blog. Some sites may attract low traffic, and would be better off choosing long-tail keywords that attract a fair amount of traffic and have a fair amount of competition. The only downside to the Google AdWords Keyword Tool, is that the competition that is reported is broad and hard to determine. To find out how many people are searching for your term in Google, use the code below (replacing "term" with a keyword or phrase from the AdWords Keyword Tool):
intitle:"term" inanchor:"term"
