1. Ad Rotator
The Ad Rotator WP plugin allows you to rotate ads anywhere on your website and set up simple text files with multiple ads in each one. You simply place, or reference the text files wherever you want in the blog and the plugin will rotate between whatever ads you placed in the text file. Without this plugin, you can only switch out ads every 2-4 weeks. This plugin is great because it is simple to install, and use, and its very efficient for advertising purposes. This is a great plugin for displaying a number of ads to your viewers and it allows you to display rotating ads within your posts/pages.
2. Akismet
The Akismet WordPress plugin can protect your blog from spam and never worry about spam again with Akismet. What this wordpress plugin does is it checks the comments on your page against the Akismet web service to find what comments show up as spam and it will let you review the spam it catches on your page. One thing to keep in mind with Akismet is that it requires a WordPress.com API key to use it. Akismet provides you with an efficient way to keep your website protected against spam.
3. All In One SEO
The All In One SEO WordPress plugin is an easy search engine optimization solution for your blog or site. The All In One SEO plugin optimizes your WordPress page for the different search engines that crawl it. This plugin allows you to optimize your page titles, meta tags, keywords and descriptions. It automatically optimizes your meta tags and titles for search engine purposes. The Audio Player WP plugin is a highly configurable single track MP3 player. Once installed, this wordpress plugin allows you to insert mp3 audio files into your posts and pages. It provides the user with a simple way of inserting a stylish flash mp3 player on your website. The audio player includes a configurable color scheme, enclosure integration, run time options such as an auto start.
5. Contact Form 7
The Contact Form 7 WordPress plugin makes it easy to create and customize contact forms. This wordpress plugin allows you to manage multiple contact forms as well as allow you to customize the form and the mail contents easily with simple markup. The form is compatible with Ajax-powered submitting, CAPTCHA, Akismet spam filters and many more WP plugins. This plugin is a great way to prevent losing valuable information and content and it is a good safety precaution to have on your site.
7. Datafeedr Random Ads V2
The Datafeedr Random Ads V2- This WP plugin is a free plugin which allows you to simply and easily show random, rotating ads anywhere in your template files or using widgets. This wordpress plugin allows you to show any type of ad, including Google Adsense, affiliate ads, banner and header ads, images, text, and much more. There is no limit to the amount of ads that you can display in rotation for an ad spot. It is a great tool for marketing and is very easy to install and use. 8. Flexi Pages Widget
With the WordPress-designed Flexi Pages Widget , you can create different sidebars for different pages. This wordpress plugin is highly configurable sidebar widget that allows you to list pages and sub-pages. It is a very user friendly widget that comes with plenty of options. This WP plugin can be used in place of the default 'pages' widget. The Flexi Pages Widget offers you:
- The ability to display sub-pages only in the parent pages or similar pages
- The ability to select or exclude certain pages from getting displayed in the sidebar listing. Alternatively, only certain pages can be shown by using the 'include' option
- the ability to include a link to the homepage on the sidebar
- the ability to include titles, sort columns, hierarchical or flat format, and show the date
- an unlimited number of times that this widget can be added to your sidebar
9. Google XML Sitemap
The Google XML Sitemap WP plugin can create a Google sitemap of your blog or site that is supported by Ask.com, Google, Yahoo, and more. This plug in is used to create an XML Google sitemap of your website or blog which will support all of your WP pages as well as any other custom pages you might have. Any time you change a page, or create a post or page, your sitemap will be updated and all major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN search, and many more will be notified of your updates. 10. Gravatar
Even though Gravatar is not a WP plugin, we still consider it a necesssity if you have a WordPress platform. With Gravatar, you can have an image ("avatar") that follows you from site to site - appearing by your name whenever you post or comment on a blog. Avatars help identify your posts on blogs and web forums, so why shouldn't it be that way on every site? Even better, it's free and easy to use!
11. Members WP Plugin
The Members WP Plugin allows you to restrict user access to members only. This WP plugin allows only users who are logged in to view the content on your pages. If a visitor is not logged in, they will not be able to acces the page and consequently will be sent to the wordpress login page or any other page that of your choice. Once the visitor has logged in, they will be redirected back to the page they originally desired. This WP plugin will also restrict visitors from viewing your feeds while allowing registered users access to them by using feed keys. This is a great plugin for anyone that has information that they feel they need to restrict from certain viewers.
12. Next Gen
The Next Gen WordPress plugin gives you a fully integrated image gallery for your blog or website that has a flash slideshow option. Below is a screenshot of both what it looks like to use this plugin on the Admin side and album selection option. This WP plugin has many features including:

13. No Self Pings
If you are an online marketer and interlink your pages/posts a lot everyday, then the No Self Pings WordPress plugin is for you. Some people enjoy that wordpress sends them pings from their own site numerous times everyday. Some people don't. Those that receive a large number of pings everyday from their own site find see it as cluttering up their comments. Without no self pings, you would have dozens of trackback/pingbacks from your blog or website everyday. The no self pings plugin solves this problem by disabling self-pinging, and it makes it much easier to follow the more important pings that you receive from outside your website. It is also very easy to use, and install.
14. Ozh Admin Dropdown Menu
With the Ozh' Admin Dropdown Menu WP plugin, you can convert a verticle admin menu to a horizontal admin menu. This wordpress plugin allows for all of your admin links to be available in a neat and professional horizontal CSS driven drop down menu. It make it quick and easy to go to any admin page from any admin page without having to click on 'manage' and then 'pages' to edit different pages. It makes it very convenient to surf your pages and will make for much more efficient searching capabilities. 15. P2P Converter
The P2P Converter WordPress plugin makes it easy to convert a post to a page, and vice versa, through an easy-to-use interface. After you have downloaded this free wordpress plugin, you will find an extra column in the main table of all your posts and pages listed. This extra column will show you a 'convert to post!' or a 'convert to page!' option, simply click on either option and the P2P Converter will convert your post or page into a page or post. You can also click the 'convert' button while editing a post or page and it will convert your content before you publish it. Below is an example of how the P2P converter works and how to use the plugin to convert posts to pages and vice-versa.
16. phpBay Pro
On of our favorite WordPress plugins is the phpBay Pro, which is an affiliate plugin that inserts eBay listings into a post or page with both parties sharing the profit. This is a WordPress plugin that will help build high quality, profitable niche websites . The phpBay pro plugin gives you the ability to become an Ebay affiliate. How does it work? We enjoy this plugin, because it saves us time, is simple to use, and seamlessly integrates with the WordPress admin interface. 20. Privacy Policy
The Privacy Policy WP plugin is a google friendly privacy policy that provides a simple way of adding a privacy policy into an existing wordpress blog or website. This plugin is an all in one solution that makes sure your website has an adsense compliant privacy policy that is very user friendly. It generates a privacy page that comes complete with default configurable content that is easy to edit to fit your needs. 21. Really Simple CAPTCHA
The Really Simple CAPTCHA, or "Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Human Apart," WP plugin serves as a security device that asks users to answer a question before they can submit a form on your site - making sure that it is actually a human entering and NOT a computer bot that could be trying to spam your site. The CAPTCHA plugin does not work by itself, and it is intended to work along side other plugins. Also, rather then using using PHP sessions for storing states, it stores them as temporary files instead. This enables you to embed it into WordPress without worrying about conflicts. 22. Show/Hide Elements
With the Show/Hide Elements WP plugin, you are able to show or hide specific sections of content with just a mouse click. It adds a java script that enables you to show or hide what ever ID you want with just a click of the mouse. The plugin requires you to add some code to your theme to make it work properly. This wordpress plugin is great for anyone that owns a WP website and wants to create dynamic menus that can easily be hidden or shown. It is easy to download and fairly easy to use.

23. WordPress Stats
The WordPress Stats plugin allows you to track the views, referrers, and clicks that occur on your site or blog. This wordpress plugin requires a WordPress API key and the rest is automatic, making it very easy to implement and use. This plugin is similar to Google Analytics but it is less overwhelming in that it highlights the important stats about your website, making it easy to understand your stats and use them effectively. Once the plugin is installed, it will begin collecting information about page views, post views, and let you know which are most popular, where your traffic is coming from and what is being clicked on by viewers. Another nice feature of this WP plugin is that it is one of the fastest stats systems available and it doesn't cause any additional load on your hosting account. This plugin is a very useful tool because it allows you to track stats about your page and make any changes to your website based on what your viewers are finding the most popular. 24. WP Digg This
The WP Digg This plugin provides an easy way to add the "Digg button" to your posts. This wordpress plugin was designed to add a Digg button to your posts but instead of adding it to all of your posts, it allows you to selectively choose which posts to digg. It will add a Digg button only to the posts which you have selected it to. Adding a digg button is very easy to do with this plugin. All you do is enter a 'digg' custom field with the value of 1. WP Digg This also has an option that allows you to display a digg button on your home page and archive pages as well. Here is an example of what the custom field looks like that you enter the digg button into and what it looks like on your blog.
25. WP Nofollow Categories
With the WP Nofollow Categories plugin, you can add nofollow links to any links on your site. The WP nofollow categories plugin is a SEO plugin which adds a nofollow attribute to all category links throughout the blog. It can also be used to add noindex tags to a category page. The purpose of this wordpress plugin is to flow the page rank and authority to other pages on your site like posts and tags while avoiding the problem of having duplicate content. It allows you to control what pages Google follows and what pages can or cannot pass authority off to. This is a very important tool when you have links out to pages you do not want Google to follow.
26. Redirection Plugin
The Redirection Plugin is a WP plugin that takes care of 301 redirects, manages 404 errors, and provide a tool to take care of any loose ends you might have. The WP Redirection Plugin is a great tool for easily creating 301 redirect links for go links that affiliates use to hide their affiliate links. It is also great for moving old web pages around, or changing the directory of your WordPress installation. Their are a number of features for the Redirection Plugin including:
- 404 Error Management - captures a log of 404 errors and allows you to easily map these to 301 redirects
- 301 Redirection - Automatically add a 301 redirection when a post's URL changes, or manually add 301, 302, or 307 redirections for a wordpress post or any other file
- Redirection Methods - Ability to redirect based upon login status, redirect to random pages, or redirect based upon the referer
- Custom "Pass Through" redirections that allow you to pass a URL through to another page, file, or website
27. Related Posts
The Related Posts WordPress plugin can generate related posts based on tags. This WordPress plugin can only be used with wordpress 2.3 or higher. This wp plugin will create a related post through wordpress tags and add the related posts to your feed or web page/post. It is a great tool that will make adding related content to your page/post so that readers are motivated to stay on your website. Below you will find a screen shot of the plugin and how you create a related post.
28. Theme Tester
The Theme Tester WP plugin offers a great way to change your website or blog's theme without your viewers seeing your changes until you make it official. This allows you to change and test different theme styles without anyone noticing. This plugin is very easy to install and use. Upon activating the theme tester, a new page called 'Theme Tester' is linked from the design page allowing you to activate the test. After activating, the administrator can change between different themes as many times as they like without affecting what themes your viewers see.
29. XML Sitemap Generator
The XML Sitemap Generator WP plugin allows you to automatically generate Google News XML sitemap for online submission through webmaster tools. This WP plugin follows Google's guidelines which includes a 1000 item limit and displays posts from the last three days. The keywords for the XML sitemap are created from your post category and post tags. This plugin gives you the option to exclude certain categories from the Google News sitemap.
30. Yet Another Related Posts Plugin YARPP
Despite the uncommon name, the Yet Another Related Posts Plugin (YARPP) WordPRess plugin returns a list of related entries to whatever you have displayed on your blog and RSS feeds. This wordpress plugin gives you similar posts and pages that are related to the current post or page entry, allowing your reader to be exposed to other relevant content on your website.YARRP uses a matching calculation for each of the posts on your page using a customizable algorithm that takes into consideration your post titles, content, tags, and categories in order to find the articles most related to your topic. How To Setup A WordPress Website
How to setup a WordPress site in cPanel
WordPress allows you to use the WordPress Website Publishing Software on your own server or on server space you are renting from your web hosting company. This tutorial outlines the steps to setup a WP site on your own server with cPanel and also how to setup a WordPress site manually:
Pre-Wordpress setup steps
- Register your domain name with a domain name registrar.
- Setup a web hosting account. To find a web host that is right for you, read about choosing the right web host.
- Point your Domain Name Servers (DNS) to the appropriate addresses. If you're not sure about DNS, consult your webhost.
Setup WordPress using cPanel (Reseller Web Hosting)
cPanel is the back-end admin control panel you use to set up all the different aspects of your website including email, mysql databases, WordPress and hundreds of other options. A quality web host should have a cPanel or other admin interface that makes setting up your website a snap.
This example is step-by-step instructions to setup a WordPress site using cPanel on the DownTownHost UNIX reseller hosting service. (steps may be slightly different for other reseller web hosts)
- Login to your user Web Host Manager website.
- Click "Create A New Account" and follow instructions. When finished...
- Click "List Accounts". Find the newly created account, review the info for accuracy, then click the cPanel icon. (your cPanel can also found at http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpanel)
- Log into your cPanel account using the username and password created in step 2.
- Find "Software / Services" menu (scroll down towards the bottom), then click the "Fantastico De Luxe" icon.
- Find and click the "WordPress" link in the left hand column under "Blogs".
- Click the "New Installation" link.
- Fill in the "Admin access data", update your "Admin e-mail" then click "Install".
- Click "Finish Installation".
- Click "http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/", then use the username and password (Admin access data) created in Step 8 to login to your WordPress admin site.
- Click "Visit Site" to see your new WordPress website.

- Check your domain and you should see the standard blue top wordpress default theme.
- Make initial SEO optimizations to the blog. We're going to have a step by step process detailed to seo optimization to your wordpress blog.
- Get your theme. For this, I took the recommendations of the eurekadiary, which had a ton of insight and was my guide as I installed my first phpbay site. There are thousands of free themes out there and plenty of people offering custom ones. I'd find a nice free two or three column site that you like. Brian Gardner has a nice 3 column design called ' for my first site.
- Upload your theme and plugins. The minimal plugins you need are the all in one seo pack and phpbaypro.
*note, when you buy and unzip phpbay pro, be sure you find the phpBay folder to upload into your plugins folder, not the phpBay_plugins folder. If once you've uploaded the phpbay plugin and logged into your admin account through wordpress and don't see it in the page to be activated then you've uploaded the wrong folder.

WordPress Video Tutorial
This is a video tutorial explaining to you how to set up and get started with a WordPress website. This video is great for anyone who needs any questions answered about the set up of a WordPress website from installation to launching your site.
WordPress Basic / Initial SEO Optimization
Log in and click on settings > General. Fill in this information. You can change your blog title and taglines whenever, but the first few things to do is change the wordpress address (url) and Blog address (url) to contain the 'www's. Adding the www's is personal preference, but which ever you choose you need to be sure to be consistent throughout all your linking, and the general consensus is to use the www's but you can go either way, don't let it hold you back, mmmkay? Click permalinks, select custom structure and put in /%postname%/. This makes your urls look pretty and contain keywords. This gives you some code to add to your .htaccess file. (open up notepad and copy the entire file there and save it as .htaccess (yes, include the ".") and upload it to the root directory of your site (normally in public_html). You're actually going to need one more bit of code to add to the .htaccess file in a later step, so just leave it open for now and you can upload it later.
