Keyword Research Guide & Work Order Tutorial
This keyword research guide explains why keyword research & keyword optimization is important, how web page’s can obtain search engine optimization (SEO), and how to do keyword research for your website.
What Is A Keyword?
A keyword is a word has particular meaning to (the programming of) search engines,such as Google. Keywords and keyword phrases are selected based on their search, volume, and
competitive ability in search engines.
Why Keyword Research?
Keyword research is done to find natural search terms (those that people actually enter into search engines). The internet is a competitive (and growing) marketplace, so having a set of relevant and successful keywords can help your web page obtain higher search engine results, whereas using poor keywords will rank you lower in a search engine.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) & Keyword Optimization
Keyword research is performed during Search Engine Optimization (SEO), a marketing strategy that improves web page traffic in regards to natural (actual) search engine results. The earlier your site appears in search results, the better your chances are of having visitors, and SEO can make this happen. In other words, SEO helps your website have “presence” in the World Wide Web. Click on the above link to learn ways (other than keyword research) that can help you obtain SEO for your web site.
How To Choose Keywords
Search engine results are pages that include the exact searched phrase, or include links that lead to such pages (read about On Page Optimization to learn other SEO techniques). It is important to know that generic keywords (top searched words), such as food or clothing, are of no value to you because the web site competition over them makes it unrealistic for you to achieve a high search engine rating.
Keywords should be around three to six phrases, and variations of similar phrases, to cover what your page is about and the phrases that you are hoping to rank for. It is important to ensure a natural flow of copy while still maintaining a proper keyword balance. In a 300-600 word document, you will want to use around 10 variations of your keywords on the page.
Your most important keywords should be listed first in your page and all phrases can (and should) be used and repeated somewhere else in the page content, adding different variations of a phrase where it can naturally be worked in. Overall, focus on words that are relevant, but not overused. When a web page is overly packed with keywords (whether in the meta tags or in content) it is known as keyword stuffing, and the search engine will label the page as spam.
How To Do Keyword Research
Do you guess your keywords? Even though keyword research is not an exact science, you can follow a keyword research process to make a more effective, educational decision, rather then using keywords that you think searchers may use. When researching keywords, you are finding phrases that people actually use, and that ALSO have decent (realistic) search engine ratings.

Follow these guidelines to find out how to conduct effective keyword research for your site:
1. Brainstorm & List Potential Keywords
- Based on your web site’s niche, make a list of keywords that you think the ideal client would type into a search engine when trying to find you. Having trouble? Try Wordtracker’s Free Keyword Suggestion Tool.
- Form around 20 keyword phrases out of these words. For example, if your are selling cell phones, some key phrases may be the following: cell phones for sale, new cell phones, new cell phone models, buy a cell phone, best cell phone prices, cheap cell phones, discount cell phones, best price on brand name/model name, cellphone shop, buy cellphones online, brand name model for sale, etc.
2. Use Google Keyword Tool To Test Your Phrases
- Type in around 10 phrases at a time (pressing return after each to begin a new line) click ‘Get keyword ideas’ and then change the match type to the ‘exact’ setting.
- The results are Google’s search volume results for keyword phrases that relate to yours. Look for good volume (generally above 2000) and other phrases that make sense for your niche website, click the ‘add’ button next to each term you are interested in (they will be added to a list on the right hand side).
- Keep repeating searches and compare them to competitors. Think about new keyword phrase combinations and compile a master list of a few hundred phrases (depending on the size of your site).
3. Check organic competition using Wordtracker Keyword Universe
- Go to Wordtraker and sign up for a free trial.
- Read our article on How To Use Wordtracker before proceeding.
- Take your master list of key phrases and paste them into the field within Keyword Universe (up to 100 at a time).
- Select the keywords you would like to use based on their search, volume, and competitive ability. Pick the best, most relevant looking phrases that you believe your prospective clients might employ as well.

Improve Search Engine Rankings — On Page Optimization Tutorial
Introduction: Why On Page Optimization?
Before we get started with the on-page optimization tutorial, it’s important you understand why you should take the time to perform on page optimization. On page optimization & knowing how search engines rank web pages is a vital part
of our overall search engine optimization strategy. Google uses a meta ‘crawler’ or ’spider’ called Googlebot to scan the internet and find the best web sites & pages to include in their search engine listings. When Googlebot visits your web page it only sees text, in the form of source code. So, giving Googlebot the correctly formatted source code is very important for Google to determine your keywords and where your web page will rank for those keywords. That’s why we use the All In One SEO plugin for Wordpress to make the first step in optimizing our web pages a snap. You simply type the text you want into the appropriate AIOSEO fields and the plugin formats the text into the source code that Googlebot likes.
- Here is an exerpt taken from this web page’s source code:

To see this code (in Firefox), click ‘View’, click ‘Page Source’. This is the source code that Googlebot sees and uses to determine where your page will rank in the Google Search Engine. If you’re not using Wordpress or the AIOSEO plugin, you will need to add these tags manually between the the source code head tags.
- head tags = <head> </head>
- AIOSEO Title = <title>YOUR TITLE</title>
- AIOSEO Description = <meta name=”description” content = “YOUR DESCRIPTION” >
- AIOSEO Keywords = <meta name=”keywords” content = “YOUR KEYWORDS” >
Also, if Googlebot does not see these tags it will use the article title and first x # of characters on the page for your listing.
NOTE: You’ll need to have your Wordpress website setup, the All In One SEO plugin (or Headspace II plugin) installed, your keyword research developed and article work order completed before beginning the on page optimization tutorial. If you have all of this in place, login to your Wordpress dashboard and ‘Add New’ ‘Post’ or ‘Page’. For this tutorial we will be using Pages, but Posts can be used interchangeably.
On Page Optimization Tutorial
Step 1: Input All-In-One SEO Fields
The first step in on page optimization is to fill in the Wordpress All In One SEO fields. To do this, we must first setup a new ‘Page’. Rollover ‘Pages’ in your Wordpress dashboard and click ‘Add New’. Next, take the Article Title from your work order and put it in the ‘Page Title’ field.
Scroll to the bottom of your ‘Page’ and locate the All In One SEO Pack and input the data from your work order into the following fields.

A. “Keywords” field
Keywords should cover what the page is about, and the phrases that we are hoping to rank for in the search engines. The target keywords (most important keywords) should be listed first, and similar keywords next. Use the k keyword research list and…
- Choose 1 keyword as your target keyword and add it to the ‘Keywords’ field.
- Choose 3 more similar keywords and add them to the ‘Keywords’ field.
B. “Title” field
Write a descriptive ‘Title’ for your page and add it to the ‘Title’ field. The keywords that make up your page’s title carry a significant amount of weight in search engines. Find out which pages use a certain keyword phrase in their title tag by typing quotes (” “) around the phrase and searching for it in a search engine. These pages are optimized (designed to produce high volume search results) because their titles include successful keyword phrases.
- Use your target keyword as the first words of your ‘Title’. Google gives more weight to the words farthest to the left.
- Use your similar keywords and/or a call to action where appropriate, to finish the ‘Title’.
- Keep the ‘Title’ to roughly 60 characters.
The ‘Title’ appears at the top of you web browser in the blue ‘title bar’:

The ‘Title’ is also the link in the listing for your page in the Google rankings:

C. “Description” field
Write a descriptive ‘Description’ for your page and add it to the ‘Description’ field. This description should both compel and reinforce the keyword relevance of a page.
- Use your target keyword in the first sentence of the ‘Description’.
- Work in some of your similar keywords & write directly to the reader with a call to action.
- Explain to the reader exactly what they will find on the page & make sure that the page does indeed contain such information.
- Keep the ‘Description’ to roughly 160 characters.
The ‘Description’ is the description in your listing for your page in the Google rankings:

All In One SEO Example
Title: Slot Machine History - Discover the Secrets behind Online & Mechanical Slot Machines
Description: Learn the truth about slot machine history and find out how slot machines have evolved from the mechanical slot machines to online slot machines. Click to find the best slot machine history resource online.
Keywords: Slot Machine History, Mechanical Slot Machines, Online Slot Machines, Slot Machines
Step 2: Input Page Content
If you’re new to online business and internet marketing, it’s best to write your own content. Being able to do online research, find credible resources and write informative, keyword laden content is a skill you must learn in order to master online business. Once you’ve learned how that all works and you start to make some money, you can use the money you’ve made to hire professional writers to write your content. But if you don’t know how to do it yourself, you won’t know whether your writer is giving you the best quality content. Without quality content, you can kiss goodbye any decent search engine rankings. Google likes content that is at least 300 words in length.
- Inputting content is simply the process of writing content or cutting and pasting content you’ve received from your writer into your website pages.
Step 3: Optimize Page Content
Once you finalize the All In One SEO fields, and have input your content, it’s time focus on optimizing the actual content on the page. It’s the role of the copywriter to develop the first round of content and work in the requested target keywords and similar keywords. However, as with any written document, the first draft is rarely the last. Follow these web page optimization techniques to further improve search engine rankings for your web pages.
Keyword Usage - Ensure a natural flow of copy while still maintaining proper keyword balance. In a 300-600 word document, use roughly 10 keyword variations on the page which includes incorporating your target & similar keywords into the following tags.
- Headings: Use headings <h1> that are compelling and informative - these are your article titles. WP is auto-setup to apply <H1> tags to your headings so include your target keywords in your headings.
- Subheadings: Use keywords in your subheading and apply <h2> and <h3> tags. Capitalize each word. Do not use punctuation.
- Bold/Italics: Apply bold <b> & italics <em> (to a lesser extent) to keywords throughout the text. Don’t overdue it. Do not underline text unless it’s a link.
- Links: Use keywords as link <a> anchor text for internal, resource & affiliate links. Internal links target the same window. External links target a new window. The first sentence of each new page will contain one link back to that page with the target keywords. The first paragraph will include one link to another page within the same website. Somewhere on each page, past the first paragraph, will contain one link to a relevant, non-competing page outside the current website.
Images: Use keywords in every image <img> name, title, alt text & link URL’s. Images include logos, banners, pictures, photos, etc.
Lead Your Reader - Using tags, such as headings, sub-headings, bold, italics, links and images is vital for SEO, but think about your usage in terms of leading your reader down the page. Readers scan, so they see things that stand out and their eyes follow these things down the page, which is why we don’t want to over-use tags.
Skimming & Scanning - Make your page easy to skim and scan (which is what actual viewers do), yet still provide the important information that the readers need. Lists are encouraged, so feel free to break down the content into lists when possible.
Consistent Voice - The page content and overall site should use a consistent voice throughout. Talk to your readers, not at them. If you need to change up how the content reads, be sure to maintain the same voice.
Features & Benefits - Be sure to list out both the features and benefits of your site. Bullets are great for this kind of information (a list of 4-5 bullets, with the final bullet being a call to action affiliate link, is a great method to use).
Calls to Action - Use textual calls that drive visitors to the point of conversion. At a minimum, I like one call to action above the fold and another at the very bottom of a page. One or two more calls to action is fine, but try not to over overdue it.
Active Words - Use words that do more than just inform and that will compel your reader to take action.

Step 4: Monetize Page Content
Once you finalize the first few phases of on page optimization, make sure the page is fully optimized by using monetization methods that work.
- Affiliate Links
- Affiliate Banners
- phpBay plugin
- phpZon plugin
- Google Adwords
Have at least one affiliate link, banner, offer, etc. visible above the fold.
These optimization techniques can help you improve your search engine rankings, but there’s still so much more that you can do to make your site more successful! Unlike many who have found success on the internet, using internet marketing tools, like those at MyFamousWebsite.com, provide you with the online marketing techniques and business opportunities that result in online business success.
Google Web Analytics Profile With Link Tracking
Here is a step-by-step process on how to setup a Google Analytics profile for a Website, and how to make link tracking work for that Website.
1. Setup a Google Analytics Website profile via this link
a. Click the “Access Analytics” button on the right side of the page (log in).
b. At the bottom of the page you will see an “Add Website Profile” link. Click that link.
c. Leave the profile type set to “Add a profile for a new domain”.
d. Next, add the domain into the URL text box, and choose your country and time zone.
e. Click the continue button. You should now see the “New Tracking Code (ga.js)” which looks like this:
<script type=”text/javascript”>
var gaJsHost = ((”https:” == document.location.protocol) ? “https://ssl.” : “http://www.”);
document.write(unescape(”%3Cscript src=’” + gaJsHost + “google-analytics.com/ga.js’ type=’text/javascript’%3E%3C/script%3E”));
</script>
<script type=”text/javascript”>
try {
var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(”UA-8941172-2″);
pageTracker._trackPageview();
} catch(err) {}</script>
f. Copy this tracking code and click the “Finish” button. Proceed to step 2.
2. Insert tracking code into HTML of Website.
a. Login to your website’s Wordpress admin panel.
b. Under the “Appearance” tab, click the “Editor” link.
c. On the right-hand side, there is a list of links to different .php files. Find “Footer (footer.php)” and click on that link.
d. Intert the tracking code within the HTML, just ABOVE the </body> tag.
e. Click the “Update File” button at the bottom of the page (You need to make this file writable before you can save your changes. See the Codex for more information.).

3. Create links to be tracked.
a. Links will require the insertion of a piece of code to be successfully tracked. The code is:
onClick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(’/go/page-slug-link1.com’);
b. To keep track of each link and what position it is on which page we will employ a structured identification system. In the code, /go/page-slug-link1.com, “page-slug” will be the page in which the link is being placed. For example, if you were to place a link on this page:
http://www.roulletteonline.com/flash-roulette/, “/flash-roulette” would take the place of “/page-slug”. “link1.com” is to be replaced by the name of the casino or Website that we are linking to. For example, if we were linking to Bodog Casino we could simply put “bodog1.com”. The number “1″ in the link means that this is the first link on the page that goes to Bodog. If it were the 2nd link placed on the page to Bodog you would use a number 2, and so on…
c. A properly coded link should look as follows:
<a href=”http://www.roulletteonline.com/go/bodog/” target=”blank” onClick=”javascript: page
How To Search In Google - Search Tips & Help
How Can I Google More Effectively?
Google is a search engine that scours the web for pages relevant to a query. What exactly is a query? Comprised of a keyword or keyword phrase,a query is how you request data from Google (what you type in the search bar). A basic query is generally satisfactory,
but the following tips can help you obtain better search results.
Basic Search Guidelines
It’s important to remember that Google applies almost all queried words in a search. Each word is separately searched unless it is a common word (a, the, for, etc)–which are usually ignored if they aren’t the first word in the query. Also, Google Search is not case sensitive and punctuation (except the dollar, underscore and hyphen symbol) is often ignored.
In a basic search, try to keep it simple, yet specific. In as few words as possible, use descriptive search words that you think may appear on the page that you are searching for.
Advanced Search Tips
- By default, Google considers all queried words, yet often ignores common words. Have Google pay more attention to a word by attaching a + symbol to the beginning (+how to play poker).
- Conversely, when a - symbol is placed in front of a word (or even a website) it is omitted from a search (buy gold - silver). However, unlike the + symbol, the - symbol needs a space between it and the first letter (or it would be deciphered a hyphen).
- Rather than searching for each word individually, adding quotations (” “) tells Google to search for an exact wording or phrase (”The Beatles”).
- Google uses synonyms automatically. For example, the query [Iowa history] is additionally searched as [ia history]. It is possible to prevent such synonyms in your search by putting quotes (” “) around a word.
- By typing OR in all caps (Poker Tournaments 2009 OR 2010), you can further specify the words in a search. Without this, Google would search for sites that include both words on the same page, because ”and” is the default.
- The * symbol is known as a wild card, and is a way to get Google to fill in the blank for you. Google uses this opportunity to find the best matches for whole words, not on the parts of the words themselves. For example [make money by * on the Internet] will return results about types of Internet services that people may be able to make money from.
- Search within a specific site by entering a web page title in the query. For example, the query [poker site: kickasspoker.com] will return pages only from kickasspoker.com.
- Search for a whole class of sites, such as only within an .edu domain site (college attendance: .edu). Or you can search web pages that are related in content by typing ” related” before a website address (related: www.google.com).
Now that you know how to achieve a more affective Google Search, what are you waiting for? Give it a try!
Make Money With Amazon Affiliate Program
For most, Amazon.com has been a site to purchase books and other items, with an emphasis in competitive prices, easy shipping and reliability. What you may not know is that this site also represents a profitable affiliate business opportunity . In being an Amazon affiliate, your website will benefit from Amazon’s integrated tools, and you can soon earn money on autopilot.
It starts with becoming an Amazon Affiliate (also known as “associates”).
Making Money Online As an Amazon Affiliate.
Once you join their program (it’s free), you’ll be able to sell their entire inventory of products. You can build a website, insert your affiliate links throughout the content, and refer your visitors to the products they’re looking for. Every sale that you produce generates a commission. Amazon keeps track of your commissions throughout each month and sends you a check. Make Money on the Internet With an Amazon.com Affiliate Site
Earning Potential As an Amazon.com Affiliate.
- They are a household name. They’ve created a brand that is immediately recognizable. That means nearly every person who visits your site knows Amazon and trusts them.
- They provide affiliates (or, “associates”) with a truckload of selling tools. Not only do they give you links and banners to make selling their products easier, but you’ll have access to interactive widgets and Amazon’s “aStore” builder. Perfect for blogs, social networking pages, and traditional websites.
- They encourage ancillary sales for which you earn commissions. Here’s how it works: let’s say that you operate a digital photography website. You’ve written a short review for a digital photography book. A visitor clicks your Amazon link to buy the book. After looking around, that visitor also buys a digital camera. You’ll earn commissions on both items!
- They offer a huge inventory of products to promote. You can sell tens of thousands of products in virtually any niche you can imagine. Most online marketers think only of promoting books and CDs. In fact, you can sell golf equipment, computers, cameras, guitars, and anything else you can think of.

Many people who operate online businesses overlook Amazon’s affiliate program. In our opinion, that’s a major mistake. Their recognizable brand, useful selling tools, cross-selling efforts, and huge range of products makes Amazon an incredible opportunity. Take some time to visit Amazon and explore their affiliate program.

AWeber Account Features.
AWeber lets you manage email newsletters which you can send to your customers and leads. You’re not limited to one newsletter, you can create as many as you’d like. You can also create auto responder sequences. Unlike newsletters that need to be written on a continuous basis, a sequence is written beforehand and uploaded to AWeber’s servers. Once you program the delivery schedule, place a sign-up form on your website, and your emails will go out automatically.
By the way, don’t worry about creating a sign-up form from scratch, AWeber has a wizard to make the process drop-dead simple. You can also split-test your emails, track clicks, and see who opens your messages.
How To Expand your Business using AWeber.

You can leverage AWeber to improve sales whether you’re promoting your own product or operating an affiliate site. In fact, if you have several affiliate sites like us, create an auto responder sequence for each one.
